Flying Sam’s Trip: Stuck in the Sand in Mexico

I flew another Flying Sam’s mission to Mexico.  Actually, I was looking forward to my daughter going too, but her passport expired in December so she couldn’t make it. It was another good trip and I’ve become truly useful in the eye clinic and that is satisfying.  I really should learn a bit of Spanish though…

It must have rained quite a bit because the runway conditions were terrible, and I got stuck in the sand for a bit.  As you can see from the video, it really doesn’t take much loose sand with those little tires.  The scariest part, and you can also see it in the video, was when we were under power and we hit soft, wet sand and my nose wheel sank.  There are not that many inches between the ground and the propeller and I was waiting to hear the terrible sound of my prop hitting the ground.  Luckily it didn’t.
